Welcome to the German Initiative Hope for Life

Our initiative was founded in May 2012. Until August 2018, it was called Initiative 'Help for Lancelot'. Since our range of work has expanded a lot in the meantime, we changed our name to the Initiative Hope for Life in September 2018. So it remained with our acronym IHfL.

We advocate for the abolition of the death penalty, regardless of the question of guilt, since an execution neither brings the perpetrator's victims back to life nor, as statistics show, reduces the number of violent crimes. However, an execution means new suffering again, in this case for the relatives and loved ones of the executed person and of course for the condemned person himself, who often has to wait for decades on death row for his execution.

We place a particular focus on the death penalty in the United States.

We care for several prisoners on death row.

We are extensively active on the Internet to draw attention to the terrible situation of the death row inmates.

Nobody deserves death, if necessary there would be normal prison sentences, and many death row inmates in the USA, even if they are guilty, would be free in many countries long ago!

We side with all those sentenced to death as much as we can, whether guilty or not, because they are all human beings.

We will always clearly take sides for life...
